    Strike phone cradles

    G'day all,

Anyone here use a Strike phone cradle?

I have an iPhone and am contemplating trying this out, but I'm curious about the merits of an external antenna if there's no way of connecting the cable directly to the phone.

Any comments on these, good or bad, would be appreciated.

I had one in the P38A but hadn't got around to buying an external antenna. I'll be fitting it in my L322.

I got it (unused) off eBay for about $50.

    Good mount otherwise, Ron?

And as far as the power supply goes, could you just use a standard cable and feed it through the cradle, or is the supplied cable fixed in place? I don't want to use their cigarette lighter adaptor and nor do I want to hard-wire it just yet.

I don't think it's feasible to use the iPhone cable. I hard wired my cradle. What was annoying was that the iPhone is a bit of a tight fit and I needed to hold the cradle when removing the iPhone to stop the cradle being pulled off the ball mount. I think I need to glue it to the mount.

    Hi Ron,
I've been told that the cradle has a male USB plug underneath, onto which you just attach a female USB plug of any description, be it their supplied cable or your own. Is that correct based on what you have?

When it stops bucketing down, I'll go to the garage and check. I don't recall one. Mine has a 12v supply cable if I recall corrctly.
