Having now done the Logic 7 upgrade with your assistance, I’ve got the bug to add more to the car. Is there a list you’ve made up with things that can be added? I’m thinking that the next addition will be DAB, but if things like TPMS can be added easily that might also strike my interest.

@John_D4 and @Tombie suggested I bug you. I've read a few threads where you have posted and I see why! I posted here asking about adding CarPlay to a 2010 2011 D4 that has the cute little screen with buttons and no AUX input I can find anywhere in the car.
I am trying to understand what's achievable and likely costs. I had naively imagined buying a new head unit in the Black Friday sales and changing a few plugs or rearranging a few pins, ditching the cd player (and installing a toaster oven in it's place for delicious cheezy snacks on the go) and perhaps even moulding a shiny custom facia in fibreglass or carbon fibre if needed but it seems there's a fair bit more to it than that, especially if you want to be able to reset the time and date displayed in the instrument cluster and in error codes.
I had hoped to pull this off for minimal $$ hence posting on the forum for advice. I see that doing conversions like this forms part of your business so I'm conflicted asking for free advice. That being said can you shed any light on what's achievable vs cost?
My wishlist seems straightforward:
Wireless CarPlay
Retain steering controls
Retain time and date setting after a battery disconnection or daylight savings change (even if this means finding another hidey hole for the small screen)
Retain chimes, reverse sensor beeps etc
Retain the functionality of the key pad below the small screen if it has any purpose once the new head unit installed.
If it's all a bit too $$$ I might end up just settling for a $20 Bluetooth FM Transmitter jammed in the cigarette lighter hole so I can play spotify and call it a win.
