Anyone here who can edit the CCF for discovery sport? I bought my DS without the incontrol apps, and I learned that it can be acitivated by editing the CCF without hardware change. TIA

I've got an 05 D3 with the base system. Been thinking about adding the rear D pillar speakers in as I have the 3rd row seats in use all the time - so it would be good for the rear seat passengers to have a little more volume. Not really fussed on upgrading to the harmon/kardon system (which I think you mentioned earlier in this post would require a retro fit of the fibre optic). Do you know if its possible to add some extra speakers in with the current wiring?

There is no wiring in place for the sub or surround speakers in the cars with Base audio, and the head unit has the audio amplifier built into it, and only 4 channels, something like 20W each, that's not really going to work well driving additional speakers.
In principle you could fit the d-pillar speakers (and the subwoofer in the tailgate) but you would need an external amplifier to run them, something aftermarket, not OEM as they only run on the MOST fibre optic network. A half-decent car audio shop could do something like that.
I would use the OEM sub and d-pillars though, it's easier that way.
A couple of years back I helped out a guy doing an aftermarket stereo install in a Freelander2, he got the factory subwoofer from a wreck and ran it from an aftermarket amp, worked out well because it fit in the available space perfectly.

That's what I thought may be the case. The factory D pillar speaker trim and speaker would be ideal to use. I'm thinking of using an aftermarket head unit anyway so that'll make running extra speakers easier

Hi Cambo,
Im awaiting my Discovery Sport HSE this week. Im still not 100% sure what audio i will be getting, but im definitely looking forward to an audio upgrade, meridian surround if possible, im thinking TPMS as well, and perhaps any other updates that require only CCF changes. Still need to find someone with IID tool where i live.
Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on the Disco Sport.
However i'm afraid if you're looking to upgrade the audio system, you are going to be disappointed.
First of all, there is no aftermarket diagnostic support for the Discovery Sport, IID Tool, Nanocom, etc, none of them support the L550 yet, as far as I know, only SDD and Pathfinder (JLR dealer tools) can work with the L550...
Secondly, the infotainment systems in the L550 are totally different to the earlier models, they use the Next Generation (NGI & NLI) systems, which are very unfriendly...
Depending on which model year and specification, you could have one of three possible systems;
Base audio for all years, the NLI system, uses the "AHU" Audio Head Unit. Cannot be upgraded to Premium/Surround.
Also be aware that one version of this is branded as 380W Meridian, which cannot be upgraded to the 825W Meridian Surround.
Meridian 825W system to 2016MY was the same IAM2.1 system as the earlier cars, not much to upgrade there, also it seems relatively few cars got this system from the factory.
Meridian 825W system from 2017MY uses the NGI system, with the IMC Infotainment Master Controller.
There is supposedly a 380W version of this system but I have never seen a car with it fitted.
The branding is version confusing... three different systems called Meridian
INCONTROL TOUCH MERIDIAN® SOUND, 380W
[ENHANCED SOUND SYSTEM (L2) "NLI HEAD UNIT LEVEL C"]
== Note that in the F-Pace this is called BRANDED SOUND SYS (L3), but it's the same as (L2) in the L550
INCONTROL TOUCH PRO MERIDIAN® DIGITAL SOUND, 380W
[BRANDED SOUND SYS (L3) "NGI HEAD UNIT - HIGH"]
INCONTROL TOUCH PRO - MERIDIAN® DIGITAL SURROUND SOUND 825W
[BRANDED SURROUND SOUND SYS(L4) "NGI HEAD UNIT - HIGH"]
If you're buying a Disco Sport, new Disco 5 or a new Range Rover, you want the INCONTROL TOUCH PRO -MERIDIAN® DIGITAL SURROUND, because upgrading from the lower spec Meridian is not worth it...
Sorry!

Wow! Didnt know any of this... i was under the assumption that depending on the amp i might be able to just do the whole amp switcheroo, so i was more concerned with speaker quality and whether the stock ones would be reusable or not... regarding iid, i read the following thread:
IID Bluetooth Diagnostic Tool - Discovery Sport Forums
They seem to confirm that iid would work on DS... its surprising that the website doesnt actually show any info on this.
I will do some research and then post pictures of the hardware on the car when i get it. Thanks!
