    Hello All,

Drover81 described buying an Xiaomis M14C - just wondering if anyone is using its big brother the Xiaomi Redmi note 5 AI ? Capacity is 64 GB for around $318 delivered to home

Yes it is a more elaborate unit than the M14C and dearer too. My old Telstra Smart Phone has grown very old in its tooth and is starting to show it every day.

I am after a good camera and being able to do internet based stuff.

    Kind regards

While on phones, I found the only way to properly protect the screen last year with a product by Whitestone Dome called Dome Glass. I've had one on my Note 8 for a little over a year now and it's copped some major drops while managing to save the screen.

You actually glue this thing down and use a UV light to cure the glue.

I managed to crack the protector a few months ago, but it still saved the screen, i've not bothered to remove it as unlike any other kind or protector, the glue hold everything together, it is also shatterproof. It also adds structural integrity to the screen, and is easy to remove when you want to sell the phone.

Because it's glued down, i can still use the Spen and touch with no difference, even with a crack.

Whitestone Dome – Dome Glass Global Site found mine on Amazon.

It is rather difficult to install though.

    Have a case fitted too.

I use a nuglas tempered glass screen protector. Not so good for curved screens and not sure if it affects pen use but waaay better than the old plastic film protectors.

And if you want to check and compare the specs/photos you can do that at gsmarena

    My phone came today! Woohoo!

Here is a picture of it taken using my old Samsung

And here is a photo of the Samsung taken with the new LG

A much better picture, though it might be hard to tell with the uploaded photos.

So far the only different things I've noticed are the T-Mobile splash screen on startup and that I could only pick English (US) and English (Canada) on startup. Other than that it has regular reception around home and work. So far very happy!

    Cheers

I see Apple sales are down significantly as people realise they are overpriced and the Android share is growing.

Read through this thread recently as I needed to get a new phone when my Google Nexus 5x carked it.
Ended up with a Moto G 5s running Android 8.1 for just under $280 from JB hi-fi.
So far so good and meets all my needs, doubt I'll ever get a $600-800+ phone again!

I was looking at those Readmi phone's the other day, they look pretty good.

Not sure why it's called a Note when it has no pen, but anyway.

Unfortunately, until prices come down on the tablets with spen/similar capability, i'm stuck with Samsung Note phones as i use them to save paper (lots of it) for uni notes/equation practise.

Not that i don't love the Note 8, and for anyone who can benefit from the pen, there's some selling online for $600, strong contender for best mid range android phone.

I feel the same about my OPPO.
