    Best AM/FM aerial

Looking for an aerial that will give the best reception, particularly in remote areas. Any suggestions?

I fitted a ariel that looks like a uhf/cb set up.
They are am/fm specific as is the base and lead that needs to be changed.
Ariels are available in various colours, lengths and you can choose one specific to your needs.

A 3•6m leed is plenty long enough for a gaurd mount in a Defender.

I had a M2W being the tallest and was the only one of our group with reception for parts of our Birdsville/Lighning Ridge trip.
It flexed back against a the snorkel head at highway pace and there was some flex in the gaurd when it happened.
I've swaped to a M6W being shorter( swaped with the TVan) and eliminated the above issues.
I listen to ABC am a fair bit and find I can still hear it for a few hundred kilometres beyond where previously it dropped out.
    Cheers, Kyle

I also recommend mobile one antennas. I have an AM/SW. I've picked up ABC Sydney Radio 702 easily in Wagga Wagga, and ABC Darwin on SW from Farina in SA. Mine is M1W. I'd suggest you'd want M2W (60") or M3W (33") depending on what length you can cope with. The long ones at 60" stands up a long way but is very flexible.

You also need a suitable base and lead as has already been mentioned.

What's the third antenna for? Do you find 3 antennas annoying, or does the eye forget they are there after a while?

I think I might go with a Mobile One M7W for now. Not the longest or best, but I'd rather mount this where the original is next to the windscreen. Anything longer will protrude past the roof, which I'm not sure I want at this stage.

Hey, weeds, do you get interference on the AM/FM radio when you broadcast on the AM or UHF CB?
