They have just finished running cable in our court and got a call from iiNet advising us that its not long till we get connected, they are using HFC which I'm told utilises the foxtel cable we already have.
Had lots of issues with our copper line due to the pit being open and gets either water logged or heat affected.

Been having a few issues with our NBN connection for the last month or so. Drops out nearly every afternoon for several hours - generally seems to be around 1-2pm until after 7pm sometime. Sunday gone it dropped out at 7.30am and didnt return until 10pm.

We have had no internet , home phone or Netflix from 4pm through 9pm today & when it did come back on it was so the sick snails in our garden would have been faster. I was trying to read the news I could read the words but it would not load any of the images, seams to be ok now will see what the morning brings , we had some accounts to pay today will now try to pay them in the morning & hope they don't hit us for late payments .
Have you tried restarting it? That is the first thing they will tell you to do. If you haven't already, I recommend you try it.
But still ring and complain. Make sure you ask them to raise a complaint with NBN, as that's the only way anything actually gets fixed.
Keep a log of calls and ask for the operater's name, to put them on notice.
    Keep complaining.

Back in the early 80’s I was working for JRA in Bondi Junction running their national data network. The Telecom (forerunner to Telstra) network was pretty crap then too and you could track storms by the locations that were dropping off line usually due to water in the pits.

I was on Optus cable and they ran HFC cable through our area about 6 months ago. Bit of stuffing about getting the line run from the street to our house. My house is set back from the street a fair way and they left us till last as it was harder to do. First they wanted to trench the yard and lay down the cable (Optus cable is overhead) unloaded their trencher and gear then changed their mind and left. A month later another crew comes out and does it overhead, they guy doing it mentioned his crew gets the hard jobs.

But now connected and using Aussie Broadband as an ISP. Not the cheapest but rock solid connection, good local support and easy to deal with. Funny thing is my Optus connection is still live after cancelling it so I've got my router set to load balance.

Every time I drops out but dose not help . About 1/2 hr ago went off for 2 min. This morning at 6am was off for around 1hr. I am sure it is the Foxtel cable as it didn't work when we went to cable & we have not had Foxtel for 30 odd years because of the problems we had with it When we tried to connect to cable they could never find a fault so decided the modem was the problem 10 modems latter over 6 months & the help of the Ombudsmen they switched us back to ADSL , but can't do that now.

No problems at all. Works perfectly. Only complaint is the scammers who 'phone repeatedly telling us out internet is going to be cut off if we don't have NBN.

It's simple to stop this - unplug the phone. I have a land line and number but nothing plugged into it for years now, so they can call as often as they like and it will just ring out.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
