I think Ronnie Moon just put one on his Pootrol ute double cab thingy and had a write up in 4x4 mag just gone or current, was a heads up on the 4x4 web site as well.

If your gunna put an extra light on the back make it switched seperate from the reverse lights as its handy for setting up camp etc in the dark as well as being illegal for rego.

I used to have one of those round work lights with the handle on the housing mounted on the back drivers side rear of the Fender and it was great for reversing in the bush and for also illuminating a camp site.

I incorporated a reversing camera in the rear of my County. Reversing into a metre wide tree is what helped decide- lucky it was a stringybark and about 150mm was just bark. It still did some damage though.
I used an old desk lamp as its casing and a old camera tripod base as its swivel. It helped to get the angle right. It sits inside the driver side quarter window and has a pretty good angle of a view. Weird looking at where you have been. It's part of a laptop/touchscreen installation.
I guess the window will get dirty, but easy enough to wipe off.
There are different types of camera's and CCD gives the best resolution.
There are also all kinds of prices out there. You would do well to beat this guy's prices though. $185.00 for screen $120.00 for camera $5.00 for cable. You get about 4m 12v cable with the camera.
It works bloody well in semi darkness, (Its only new so I am still experimenting).
I got my camera in 2 days.

I am looking at a similar setup. However I want the screen to be able to be used for a reversing camera, gps mapping through a car computer or laptop as well. Ideally I will want a 10" screen.

I have fitted one in my disco when filled with gear in the back it is hard to see out the back.Also wired up two spot lights for the reversing lights and turned the orginal rev.lamps into indicators.

Make sure any lights are wired via a relay as most reversing lamp switches do not handle the extra current as well as the wiring.

I would put the reversing spotlight on a relay. If you want to be cool like me you can have a 3 way switch
This gives me:
Spotlight always off
Spotlight always on
Spotlight switched with reverse gear.

Can't help with the camera thing though.

10" is pretty big in a Defender. Too big for on top of the dash. No room around the gearstick. I'm looking at screens that fit to the sunvisor or the mirror atm.

Can't be too flimsy either - corrugations might make it a short lived investment.
