I have the same need but would like to adapt/use with my caravan.

Was there any additional camera options on the ebay offer.

Or maybe get a larger screen and use for DVD's as well, or is that trying to get too clever?

On another note loved your pics on the Overlander site and the view across your property reminded me of when we lived in Carwoola on the road to Captains Flat, there is just something about the views in that region.

    regards

harryw There are heaps of choices on Ebay. You can also buy just the cameras, heaps of different screens, it all depends on how much you wan't to spend.

As for possition I was planning to mount up high so there is less chance of mud and water damage. Just need to get the angle right.
Picture also lets you navigate any small nasties lying on the ground.

    Hey Harry

There are plenty of variations on eBay. I was just looking for the cheapest - nothing else mattered. I can't see myself watching DVD's in the Defender, so that wasn't one of my criteria... but there are those little portable DVD players (or the fold-down roof-mounted ones) that probably accept video-in from a camera.

Thanks for the comment on the property. It's a fantastic area to live in - and Captains Flat isn't that far away. We love the rolling hills and grassland too. If you go to my website ( http://www.omaroo.net/index.php'set_albumN...=view_album.php ), there are more photos.

    Cheers
    Chris

It seems they don't like aluminium and

they aren't water proof. They need to be at bumper height, and don't like a swim.

Ron - this is my auction number: 9707565938

The seller's page is here: http://stores.ebay.com.au/Lucksky-Electronics-Ltd

Looks like he's only got a couple left, but you KNOW that he'll have nmore shortly...

He sells the camera and screen separately, and the combined cost is actually less, but because he douples up on transport costs it works out about the same. The $130 I paid is the "buy now" price. I've emailed him twice now and he's responded within 30 minutes each time. Seems OK so far.

Sorry if I seem to be hijacking your topic Omaroo but one question leads to another, you see Tusker mentioned previously that the sensors cant get wet. The new D3 I'm interested in has reversing proximity thingies - why can't they get wet? Whats the point of putting em on the back of a fourby if they can't get wet?

Good question! Maybe they are there to satisfy up-coming ADR's or something? Satisfying the rules doesn't mean that they have to work under water...

The ones I was looking at, and on offer at the local doof doof shop are only water resistant & really intended for passenger car use. If you get a D3 stuck in a creek I suspect non-functioning sensors will be the least of your worries!
