There are many ways to skin a cat.....

I have an isolator that separates the start from the AUX pretty much as soon as a stop.....this is an issue for some as I’m not utilizing the spare capacity in my starter. Yep changed from traxide to redarc

I do believe an alternator does struggles to charge to 100% and pretty sure Tim recommends walking a charger on every now and than more so for numerous short trips. Cannot remember Tim’s advice for touring mode but I’m thinking between getting nearly there quicker plus using the spare capacity in the starter system like Tim’s gives more capacity.

Re: DC-DC.....for extended touring where your driving for 6hrs plus per day for multiple days and given most touring setups have some sort of solar I reckon DC-DC would be fine, expensive but fine.....people that I know with DC-DC don’t seem to experience any problems. Sure it may take a little longer but I reckon after a day of driving they couldn’t be too far behind other solutions and may well be in-front.

I haven't found any need for DC-DC. If a battery is measuring more than 13 volts on float after a drive then it must be charged.
