    Home Security videos & equipment

She Inside has raised the issue of the occasional street resident confusing our cars with theirs, so we're looking into Security video systems.
    - Reckon we can get away with a WIFI camera in the front door / carport area, it would 'see' the cars, front door and out to the street, the last more use to le Flics than self. naturally, a video recording system of some sort, eventually.
For those experienced, where does this one stand - as an entry level-toes in the water... ?

I have no experience but in my research I would go with a Unifi system.

Don't do that. Do it right, do it once.

Oh, and friends don't let friends use Swann.

In reality it depends if you are after IoT toys or actual CCTV cameras that produce reliable and useful footage. If you just want the "placate the wife" factor, then any of the Eufy, Arlo or equivalent toys will look acceptable (until you need the bit of footage the motion detection missed). If you want real CCTV then the lowest down the barrel you want to go is something like Hikvision or Dahua. Not a fan of either, but you can't argue the value proposition. Moving up to real CCTV then is a decent step up in $$$.

If you want results, cooperation with the local Police is essential also.

I use Unifi gear at home. Never had an issue with it.
Haven't used any other brands so can't compare but very happy with the stability of the Unifi cameras.
