    Loss of stored radio channels when DC-DC charger connects

    This is a weird one and I'm not sure where to put it, here, in non-LR TC, TC, L322, or Alternate Energies?

    I have a 100Ah LFP battery in the L322 and have had for quite some time. It's charged by a Kings 25A DC-DC charger.

    Yesterday, because I've refitted my drawer system, I had to move the battery to a new location a little further away from my power control panel. Not much, but the supply cable from the alternator pick up point in the rear fuse panel and the 12v output cable back to the control panel were extended (actually replaced with new ones) by about 400mm.

    After start up, the DC-DC charger takes about 90 seconds before it connects and starts to charge the battery. (That's always been the case.)

    The issues:

    I've never noticed this before because I don't often listen to the radio, I play music saved to a Micro SD card (I'll come back to this) but as soon as the charger connected (I can see when this happens from the remote monitor I have on the centre console), I lost radio reception. I checked other stored radio selections and none were there, just noise.

    The stored locations still showed the station frequency, e.g., Button 1 had 101.7, Button 2 had 104.9, etc. Button 6 had 108.

    So the stored locations haven't been lost, just no reception. Now back to button 6 - 108, that is tuned to the FM transmitter in which I have the Micro SD card. That location doesn't drop out. It continues playing music.

    I can only assume that when the charger connects, the supply voltage drops sufficiently that the radio loses its stored channels. I can't see any voltage drop from the installed Battery Monitor (app on my phone). I might need to get the oscilloscope out to monitor the supply.

    However, there is another issue. Now, when the charge starts, the engine begins missing and running rough.

    I'm wondering if there is RF interference from the charger getting into the CAN bus. Again, I might need the oscilliscope to look for this.

    Its RF, about 10% of the installs Ive done for kings gear and I tech gear (its basically the same) have issues with noise on the input side, chances are by extending the leads youve made the right length antennae to cause issues.

    you can try adding a ferrite clamp on the input leads, shortening or lengthening them and in once case the issue was only apparent if the solar panel wasnt plugged in.

    How do you find the Kings DCDC Ron, 25a enough for the 100ah ?

    quick one, have you got the blue sense wire hooked up to ignition? if so where? IVe had an issue in the past where its been hooked up to a can bus sensitive feed wire (+12v signal on a Body module down the back of a new navara instead of something like a cig socket)

    I have the same charger in my D350 L405 for a 60Ah battery. I don't have the igniton sense connected as the supply is from a VSR and that stop-start has been disabled. I don't have any RF noise issues but the charger is right next to the battery on short leads and I already had a choke on the HF radio's power cable from that battery.
