Just wondering if anybody has fitted a TX 3400 to a new Disco using a bracket without drilling the dash etc.
Cheers

Don't drill use silastic to affix everything. This is how I have it installed in my D2. Should also work on a D3. Just make sure surfaces are very clean and that pressure is applied whilst it cures.

Double sided tape and velcro. I didn't use the bracket either, just attached the head directly.
I used double sided tape ( good brand like 3M ) or velcro to mount anything that if not too heavy - a control head should be fine. Just make sure that surfaces are thoroughly cleaned with metho first. If it doesn't stay put then consider drilling holes.
Mine is drilled and screwed in.![]()

use medicated metho, not normal metho, as normal metho leaves a residue that will affect the joint.Originally Posted by waynep

that's a point - where can you get that ? you can get stuff from the chemist called isopropyl alcohol that we used to use in the electronics game for cleaning things, but I am not sure if that is the same thing.Originally Posted by incisor
I mount everything in my vehicles with double sided tape. That foam stuff. This includes the Tx4400 in my old Rodeo and the car kit in our work F250.
The Tx4400 isn't light but has a large area for lots of tape. However I was surprised that the car phone kit has stayed put considering you are always pushing/pulling the phone.
The Tx3200 and microphone holder came screwed into my D1 by the previous owner though.
I have found a spot without having to drill any obvious holes. If you pull the tray on the left side of the gear stick selector and the next fitting is held by some fairly tight squeeze clips. I'm planning to fix the TX3400 to the plate underneath and store the main box underneath the head out of sight or under the dash depending on space. It means the head will be at right angle to the driver but no big deal. Anyone else tried this?
