Hi people
After a recent thread, I just thought I would post come pics from the Codan Outback Radio group on Yahoo Groups Au.
Everything is courtesy of Peter Schrader: Codan Outback Radio / VKS737-Quebec 7120
Auto-tune mounting:
Interior mount of Codan 9323
Rear door, engine as well as 9350 should have additional earth straps:

Hope it was useful.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
The white one on the front right looks like a mobile-1 (or similar) UHF colinear which would probably be connected to the ICOM IC-400PRO Uhf on the top left of the dash.
The black antenna looks like a 2m VHF Colinear which would probably go to the Yaesu (FT-857D? - HF/VHF/UHF unit) on the top right of the dash
The big stumpy unit with the whip on the back would be for the Codan near the gear knob. The base is an automatic antenna tuning unit so need need to manually tune the antenna for a correct SWR.
Man, I did not expect to see my vehicle when doing a Google for Codan antennas!
This is an old photo, the white antenna is for the UHF CB (IC400Pro), the black whip on the bull bar is a HF whip for the FT857, and yes, the antennas are far enough apart to avoid much interaction. This is the setup I used for a trip through the Simpson, slightly changed now where I have removed the FT857D and rely solely on the Codan 9323 for all HF comms (Amateur and Land Mobile). The black whip has been tapped for resonance at 10147.6 kHz for HF APRS, and have a dedicated FM radio for the 10/6/2 metre and 70cm Amateur allocations. See my vehicle location at
Location of VK4EA-9 - Google Maps APRS and
Location of VK4EA-15 - Google Maps APRS
The other photos show the location for the earth braids and ferrite clamps to try and reduce some of the woeful RF noise generated by the ECU.
Cheers,
Peter Schrader

we are getting a secondhand Codan soon and we have been assured that we can mount the auto tune on the bull bar on the bottom bar as there is nowhere else to put it on RED with camper on
Oh and we will have our 8525B with multi tap for salenudge nudge

Hi Mrs hh
I have my auto tune on the bull bar but welded a bracket on the top bar, I reckon the large base would inhibit putting it lower. Wife dosnt like it there as she constantly has to look through/around it. Will make a bracket to mount it on the spare wheel carrier one day
cheers

apparently with the new rules in every state....which are different..you can't have them up front ..but our radio tech said on the bottom of the bull bar there is enough ground plane for the aerial to work as long as it has a certain amount above the bonnet...does that make sense??? well that's what he said works for me anyway
