I should also mention that the Pioneer unit was on sale at Strathfield when I got it for $499 (retail is $799 or something ridiculous). The iPod connection is full speed so the menus work on the head unit without any delays.

Have a look here, here, and here.

Aux input on stereo with cable to ipod and maybe one of these.

Or amplifier, and same cable, no moving parts and easy to hide.

See a dentist for your blue tooth.

    Cheers

It's only been in the vehicle since December so I can't really comment on the longevity.

I do appreciate the single, big round knob. It makes it easy to control when driving and not fiddly. Like I said, the face pivots out to reveal the CD slot, but I have only used it once since most of the time the iPod is connected. The face also unclips so it can be stored away entirely if things are getting hairy.

I think most units are much the same when it comes to durability. All plastic with pretty lights.

Try these guys for a good deal. It's only $50 more than what Strathfield were selling them for.

Just grab a $120 special from supercrap or somewhere with the mp3 input on the front and tape over the cd slot...

My fender still has its normal radio from factory... tapedeck doesn't work, radio doesn't work, but the aux input works perfectly with my iPod

    ipod

If you are going to hard wire the ipod all you need to do is run a cable with a mini stereo phono jack ( same as headphone jack) on one end, and rca plugs, (usually red and white) at the other end. Plug the rca plugs to the input of a cheap amp/eaqualizer and the output to your speakers, making sure the speakers will handle the power of the amp.

Using the Belkin FM transmitter all you need is a FM radio. I find the transmitter needs to be on top of the dash to prevent unwanted interferance.
Remember of course with this device if anyone pulls up beside you they can tune into your ipod.
