I used a 6310i wth a fly lead on Vodafone but CDMA was the way to go
Has anyone had any success with a GSM cellphone booster?
Here it's vodafone with a 900mhz frequency, I'm currently trialling one system with an 8db aerial and I can't pick up squat in a place that others say their phones work.

I had very limited success with GSM boosters/repeaters back in the UK, so I'd save your money there. I bought an old car phone off eBay (MUCH higher power levels than a handheld) and used a 6dB gain GSM/CDMA/UMTS aerial mounted on the bullbar.
Phone gives far better coverage than any of the handhelds I compared it to, and the difference between the normal glassmount aerial and the higher gain one on the bar was very noticble when I tested in a marginal reception area.
However, that was over a year ago just after I moved here. I think now I'd be more tempted to try a NextG (UMTS850) handset with a flylead to the same high gain aerial, but I'm guessing that's not really relevent to you in NZ?

Hi Dougal
Are others picking up Vodaphone in the same area,or using different carriers??? In Aussie Vodaphone are well known for their lack of coverage in fringe/country areas.

The people who lived here previously said they could get reception in some corners of the house, but my nokia 3230 doesn't and the wifes phone is MIA.
I'm about to take the repeater unit and go for a drive, see just how far I can get from a known reception area and how far I have to go from home.
The other problem is I don't know where the cell towers actually are here.
