My DVD player has died, it just spins without picking up the disc, has replacing the player been easy, was it costly? Admittedly under the drivers see is pretty poor place to locate it but I'm just after a quick fix. Any suggestions
Hey all
Well the D2 came with a DVD player mounted under the front passenger seat and screens in the headrests.
Now not only is the unit a PITA to control (being under the seat) but has developed a habit of turning itself off, so I want to replace it.
My friendly audio installer has suggested a new slimline unit, but where to put it??
My idea is to remove the centre console and, as the cubby bin is quite deep, slice the bottom off it, then slip the cut section back in from the top and glue in place - thus raising the "floor" of the bin.
This would allow for the player to be mounted into the rear face of the console, below the new floor of the cubby bin - much easier to load and control. But...I'm wondering what else is under the console below the cubby? I know there are rear heater vents and the electric window controls will protrude backwards into this space, but is there anything else?
Does this sound feasible?
Cheers
Mike

On mine I put a Dash Pod on and mounted the DVD in that, along with the UHF
There is a company called 'Department of the Interior' that makes them to suit the D2
Works for me
I'll grab a few photo's and post them

Sorry...its a lot of work for little gain. There are yards of wires and looms which run down the centre of the console and then split straight after it. If not the wires, then there is all the brackets which hold the console up off the floor and also the lower panel which holds the astray.
If you remove the lower panel, 4 screws only, you can see how difficult it will be.
Of course if you want to remove the ashtray there could be room there but I would think you would have not much depth to it all.
Cheers.
