Just fitted a GME Electrophone TX3220

Justin, I removed the plastic cover that hides the screw in the centre of the back of the roof consul. It is actually behind the radio :D

There are a few spare leads up in the roof, I used the power and earth lead that goes to the rear sunroof (not fitted) :)
I left the wiring for the front sunroof alone.
The antenna lead runs up the passenger side front pillar and across to the centre. The screw actually fits through that hole!
I undid all the top screws on the passenger side and centre of the consul, to make it easier to push the cable in between roof lining and roof.

It was all quite easy.

I decided to do this when I got home. Almost finished. Just need to put the plug back on the antenna cable, connect the power under the dash and mount the mike holder to the left of the radio.
I decided to use battery power as I do like to use it without the keys and the sunroof wires looked a little light. Assuming I was looking at the right wires.

I ran my wires up the passenger pillar as that is the side the antenna is on. The wires ran out of the roof console via the upside down cover that is now covered by the radio. I just drilled a big hole through the top of the radio bracket and left the plastic blank out of the console. Not sure if this is the same hole you said you used.
I didn't loosen the roof console screws. Just used force and a flexy claw thing. One of the best tools I've ever bought and probably the cheapest.

Radio is attached with double sided tape. I use this tape all the time and it does not loosen with heat/age. You could swing off it. So no holes drilled or cut anywhere.

I can see the front panel fine but I don't change channel on the run anyway. Will be good to see how it goes in practice.

It allso has 20 scan only channels (41 to 60) programed by dealer or computer wiz

the new 3220 are a great radio but i have stepped up to the commercial radios now only got a 3200 and a 400 pro the rest are the comercial gear no thats clear and good recive..i programme my radios my self and you can get to transmit on 22 23 just a tick box in the programming software
