    D2 Speaker Size Help

    Hi all,

I am in the process of finding a new sound system for the D2. Have bought head unit, amps, subwoofer and ipod controller - however, I need help with the door speakers.

I do not feel like pulling the door skins of yet, so my question is what size are the factory door speakers on a 2001 D2?

    Cheers Quinny

    Hi Quinny,
I have just put these in mine. You do have to take the door trims off in order to get the grills off & the door pockets. I also bought some A pillar trims with the speakers in them from a wrecked D2 (only 22 each) & all the wiring was there, so just pulled the trim off & plugged straight in, thats if you dont have the speakers already there! Going back to the door speakers, I needed to re drill new holes & it was a VERY tight fit but they do work great with no vibration. The backs were a tighter fit than the front. hope this helps.

    Cheers Dave,

I am lucky enough to allready have the speakers in the A pillars, so i want to replace the factory tweeters with an aftermarket splits. Were the speakers you put into the frontdoors 6", as the ones i am eyeing off at the moment are. Also are the rear doors 6" as well, as they look like they could also be 6x9's.

yeah, the rears are the same as the front even though the grills look bigger. You can take the back grills off without the door trims. Again these were a tighter fit than the front & the grills touch the actual speaker frame but no vibration or distortion. I really wanted them to fit & when you take the old ones out & place the new ones in & put the grills on, it feels as though it wont fit but when you screw them in, they will just go in there!! ( I hope that all makes sense if not pm me & I will give you my mobile & you can call me) I have the new Alpine head unit with ipod adaptor & Rockford Fosgate sub & amp sounds
