    Hello All,

This is a Old Thread but has the same question I wish to ask.

I am interested in a Wireless Camera from the caravan to the cabin.
Has there been any improvement on these since this Thread Started in 2008?
Also interested if a Mobile Device like a iPad may be used for the Monitor.

    NTB

I have a wired setup to the rear of the car and a sender/receiver in the vehicle with a wired camera to the back of the van ( If that makes any sense?).

The setup is not the best and the picture from the wireless sender/receiver and the picture can at times break up and be less than perfect. I have not really tried to trouble shoot it yet and may yet go back to running another wire from the rear of the vehicle to the front that will accommodate the wired setup on the van.

It was a bit of an experiment and if you get the sender/receiver on ebay it's not a big expense - buy it locally and you'll pay more.

I'm not sure things are better with the cheap stuff now. I have one in the 101 and while it works, the quality of the picture is not great. It certainly wouldn't have the distance to be used on a van - it barely makes it from where it is a few metres away.
I'm sure a better quality unit would work better, but if I do it all again or get one for the van, I'll be hard wiring it.

Not sure about displaying it on the ipad - I have been thinking about this myself.

Ok, so a Wifi camera to ipad is possible, but not straightforward in a car. You can use a wifi IP camera, but then you need it connected to a router - like your wifi router in your home. If you have a smartphone you can use the hotspot on that, but its hardly a solution that will work by bunging the vehicle in reverse.

It would be fairy simple to set it up so it worked easily in your driveway while connected to your home network, but once ou drove off...

Stay tuned, I have an IP camera at work I use for security on big sites - I'll have a play with it.
