    Tait Handeld Programming

Is anyone on here into the programming side of two way radios ???
I'm just wondering what's involved in programming a Tait Orca Elan radio to UHF CB channels.

    Cheers, Murray

In the absence of others - Tait is easy to reprogram, their programming leads are relatively easy to find or build, and the software can be found. I have a remote head T2020 in my car which works very well. As to the portable Orca , provided the setup is similar, it should be a breeze to reprogram provided you can find the clip for the programming lead to the unit. Unlike Motorola and Philips, Tait (in their vehicle sets anyway) plug direct to the serial port.

The thing to watch out is whether the portable is 'Trunked' (like the old analog telephone) or normal. The two don't mix, and also it takes a lot of effort to program 477mhz into something not designed for that range of frequencies.

But if you have a 450-500mhz orca and a laptop, it should be fine.

    Thanks,
It's not a trunked unit, so I'll see what I can find.
