GME 3200 UHF
Hi all, hope someone may be able to help. My 3200 has ceased to transmit [ no-one can hear me ] although reception is still working.Symptoms are 1/ Rapid clicking noise when pressing the PTT button, 2/ Flashing display in time with the clicking, 3/ Stuck on Channel 28, 4/ Scan not working 5/ squelch control not working 6/ priority channel control not working. Up to now it has been very satisfactory. Thanks in advance. Cheers, 130man.

First thing I'd try is disconnecting the power plug, leave it for a while and and plug it back in again ( try to force a full reset) - may have got itself in some strange mode.
If that don't work check the supply volts to the the radio are OK. Might be a high resistance in your cable caused by dodgy or corroded connections. Try to check the volts both on Receive and Transmit hold up above 12.5V. You need to do this at or near the radio if you can. Do you run the power supply direct to the battery ( both + and - wires ) ?
Sometimes if the antenna connections are dodgy, or the antenna is too close to the radio, RF feedback into the circuits can cause problems, but I doubt it in your case.
Other than that might be a return to shop job.

Hi Wayne, thanks for the reply.I discovered the earth was shonky, fixed that and now have proper transmission but still can't turn the squelch on nor scan etc.12.6 volts at the radio. It was all good until this week so nothing has changed outside the radio as far as I can see.Looks like some sort of failure inside, which is beyond my skill level.Cheers, 130man.

Hi all, got the radio back just after Easter and it all works well. Took it to General Communications in Newcastle and had to leave a $55 Quotation fee. When I picked it up the tech. said that all the controls had turned off, possibly due to earthing through the aerial and they were able to be restored, no extra charge required.I couldn't get more details as he had to take a call. Cheers,130man.
