I switched mine to Comp2 setting and I am happy with the settings there. See if that helps I just thought of it after your last post.

And now it's back to normal!!!

Got in the car last night and.... the volume has returned to normal levels
Again, I can't recall having done anything to the settings for the past few days so I'm buggered if I know what's happened.

    Thumbs up Problem solved

OK. Since posting my last update, the volume has been fine, then quiet, then fine again, then so quiet I could hardly hear anything.

The last time it got really, really quiet I noticed that the radio and phone volume levels were actually still OK. It was only the iPod that was fluctuating! Before when I thought everything was going quiet it must have just been my imagination since the FM levels are normally quieter than the iPod levels.

So I tested the iPod on its own - and the volume level from the headphones was fine. It was only the volume through the dock connector that was stuffed.
    "A-ha!" methinks. "It's the connector that's dodgy".

So I cleaned the connector... and no difference .

Then, as I was listening to some thinking music (through the headphones of course), I browsed through the menus and came across a setting I didn't recall seeing before.
    "Reset settings".

Now this is different to the reset all option which basically wipes your iPod and re-formats it as blank. So I clicked it........

    .....and now everything is fine

I haven't ever messed with any of the settings on the iPod - it's always been set to default. But somewhere along the way it must have gotten confused. Now it's un-confused and everything is hunky dory!
