I have a car stereo about a year and a bit old (as yet uninstalled coz I am slack as bro!) which has an ipod controller - ie you can connect the ipod and control it entirely from the stereo itself.

Anyone know whether it would do a Iphone in the same manner or it a bit more... complicated than that ?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Nup. Doesn't work. Just hands iPod function control to head unit.

    The hunt goes on.

Thanks mate. Thats a bugger. So it doesn't allow the music playing part of the iphone to work as it would the ipod eh ?

    Yeah! That's fine!

But when the phone rings, you can't 'do it' through the stereo. It's still a loud speaker or hand-to-ear jobby.

Ipod contorller with headunits mean, that the headunit charges the ipod and you can control the ipod funtions from the headunit, it will still work with iphone but it wont charge the iphone and you will likely get a message on the iphone saying this accesory is not designed to work with iphone, some of the real new units can charge the iphone but not many yet, im lookingt at upgrading to a new pioneer as my old $1399 unit is shagged, the new one i am looking at which retail for $3499 still wont charge and iphone, it doenst even come with the connector!!! and pioneer cant tell me if my version 1 can-bus sysytem will work with the new units can-busII
