Do you need to open a hole/port in your firewall/router?
I've freshly installed uTorrent and its a different version to the on I had a while back.
The setup guide has a drop down list of servers - which are all in USA or Europe. It allows to select one and then click a button taht says "run tests". The result is a big red X next to the result - so it's not able to download from these servers (apparently) or at least determine the download speed.
Q: How do I get this set up properly? It obviously needs to determine, somehow, what download speed it needs to be set at ?
Make any sense ? God I hope so.
Please help.
Cheers

Being a regular user of the torrent downloads sites i suggest take off Utorrent and download Vuse. Great downloader and easy to setup, it also has the download/upload tests as well but from what i know your upload speed should be at least 20-30% set from your download speed. Anyway get Vuse as i have encountered very bad experiances with Utorrent and one was my whole 80gig gone in one day!!!!! Plus Torrent dosent open alot of torrents as well.
The test says "Port s open network is properly configured"
port 63419 apparently.

Also I looked on mininova and it seems everything there costs money now !?
Is there another / better torrent finder I can use ?

mininova just seems to have paid material on it, and torrent hound seems to link to external download sites that require membership.
Pirate Bay seems to require membership too.
Are there any issues with signing up to these sites?

isohunt.com is a good one as well... I have been told to keep a wide berth of torrentz. have you run a test torrent?
It's also a good idea to throttle your upload speeds in properties somewhere, so things don't get out of control
why not use torrentz ?
ANyway it seems to be a case of following various link s/ using different sites until i find one with a few seeds.
Seems to be working OK anyway.

You do not have to sign up for Pirate Bay.
uTorrent is a great program much better than Vuse IMO. Vuse has blown out to a major program with lots of extras that are good for?
torrentz = ok
