    my new netbook / booktop

Hi there, I've just bought a gigabyte M1022 for work, but the silly thing is widescreen, as they all are. the problem is the work software that i need to use on it is too big for the screen - can only see half of it in the window.

is there a way to setup the program so that it matches the screen format ?

apart from that issue i like the little thing.

its white so it looks like an apple and comes with a docking station
if i can find a cheap external touch screen and a ssd it should work well as a car pc when docked.

    M1022M - GIGABYTE

Hi mate, its in house custom written machine control / configuration stuff. I've got on to the swiss software guys to get them to try and reconfigure the program.. not holding my breath though

The Swiss build real nice machines - but $%@#, dont ever let 'em near a keyboard..

here's a capture of the whole screen, not even slide bars

what i need is something like IE where the screen zoom level can be changed, regardless of resolution issues.

If changing screen resolutions does nothing then I'm out of ideas. Bit rude of the developer to not consider lower resolutions

    Good luck with it.

Nothing new in all this. No wide-screens when software was written is the most probable answer.

There is a lot of specialist software around that has problems with new computers. How about all those that need a REAL serial port.

Most of these problems are solved by using an old machine.
Much of the software will run real happy on an old clunker.

Yeah the serial port thing - part of the reason i went this netbook, one of the few on the market with an express port slot, most of the latest models aren't comming with this option. Picked up an 232 express port adapter for $50. From what i understand it should work as a proper serial port - without the usb to serial adapter issues.

My old laptop is an HP nx9040, brought it 5+ years ago - was one of the last laptops to come with a serial port. Looks like its not going to be retired after all.

could try running it on a virtual PC? on your laptop, you'd get a lower res, ie not wide screen
