    64bit.......really?

    Hi guys

as some of you are aware I got a new lappy

The new laptop is running a 64bit operating system, which seems to rn very nicely.

My question to some of you is, are any of you bothering with the 64bit browser or are you all still using 32? I'm currently using the 64bit browser and starting to wonder what the point is! as most stuff doesn't function properly due to vairous stuff not being supported like "Flash Player". Therefore I often get a pop us bar telling me to install the needed add-ons to play things such as videos, that are embedded in say facebook.

Is there any likelyhood that these browsers will start supporting such features in the near future? I dont undrestand how I can install adobe lightroom 3 64bit but I can't use a 64bit browser because it doesn't get along with adobe flash player yet.

When I bought Vista I bought the 32bit version as at the time it was more stable the 64bit and there was not much around to accomidate 64bit however I'm starting to fee,l other then the stable bit that this scenario is still is very much the case. So is it?

I guess you pay for lightroom.... therefore the support and functionality.

Flash is free, no urgent need to commit resourses when everyone can use the 32bit browser anyhow. ( I think windows defaults to the 32bit browser anyhow, unless you specifically open the 64bit.)

Also, if you have over 3 gigs of RAM, you need a 64bit OS to be able to use it.

yes I'am opening the 64bit browser...

its a shame as we seem to be stuck in the digital tv battle where people wouldn't upgrade to a digital tv until more digital tv channels were available, and the tv companies won't upgrade to a digital tv system until more people buy digital tv's..

Just using the 32bit version for now. Given the relatively low overhead for processing web pages (versus PS editing) I can't see there is that mutch difference. The lack of add on support also lost me in the 1st week.

I use 64bit IE all the time, to me its a benefit for flash to not work mostly eg advertising etc.
I have two desktop shorcuts one for 64bit, (for me) and one for 32bit , (for the missus, facebook).

if you really need flash run the 32bit version which comes with Windows7, (as does the 64bit version).

Eventually the web developers will get thier act together they are just lazy. Saying that as far as I know it's only Adobe Flash that does not support 64bit. If you look at the adobe website they say the are working hard to develop the 64bit version.
Saying that if its free software that wont work then there's not a lot to complain about but if I had paid for it I'd be calling them asking for an update.

If using two browsers is a hasle stick with the 32bit.

I run 64 bit laptops for work. Makes a huge difference in performance as it can suck up the RAM and push those scripts and databases through faster.

For browsing the net, I wouldnt even be able to spot the difference.
