    just gets better and better,
bios says cpu temp is 93C,,

there is some talk about flakey sensors,, but I'm guessing this is why its shutting down,,

have set the fan to auto and enbled cpuQ so according to the bios the fans at around 2k speed,, is that flat out?

    late edit--

actually ignore all the above,, if I stay in the Bios it runs forever--

so,, it sees the HDD in the Bios but wont read it to start windows,,
and if I stick an xp disc in, it will start loading files but switch off at 35secs,,

sure the cpu and fan are seated correctly?

make sure there isnt a standoff in the wrong place that isnt shorting things out underneath the board.

have you measured the 12v and 5v rails when booting?

this is tempting, its a quad core that would bolt straight onto mine---
gawd, its nearly beer oclock and you want me to pull a motherboard--
    no,,can do though---

Hmmm last time i saw something like this was when the fan connetor on the motherboard was faulty. You could relpace the cpu fan, or wire it directly to a power source. The fail safe for the temp shuts the computer down when it gets too hot, but that isnt looking good

You could get a sata controller and see if that work rather than relpacing the motherboard?
