Unless gaming, no advantage from 8600 to 8800.

Resolution / pixels??? 99% of computers run LCD's, which really ONLY look good in their native resolution (unless in games). The 8600 will run any normal LCD at its native resolution. By normal I mean 1920x1080 @ 60hz, (most screens around 22-24", or 1680x1050 for 20-22" screens.)

If you are on CRT dinosaurs, my old 22" could easily handle 1600x1200, but you wouldn't require any higher res than that unless you like squinting, and any video card can run that res.

I would only be putting in if you had onboard video () , or its worth keeping for a gaming machine or building up another computer. Windows/linux will get no benefit from 8600 to 8800.

My old computer only has a 6600GT, and my newer (about 2 years old I think) computer runs a 8800GTS 512, and in Windows environment there is no difference at all.

Re, Gaming keyboard and other stuff, sell/give to friends who have kids or put on ebay.

Thanks for the info. I don't run very high res as I can't read the small screen font. This 20" screen I'm using now is at 1152 x 864.

Re the ZBoard gaming keyboards, now given away to someone on the forum who plays games.

I had a look at MS Flight Simulator but it looks too difficult to learn (I did say I'm not a gamer).

We have an Atari 2600 in the garage.....
