    WiFi password

How do I find out what it is? No, it isn't the one on the bottom of the modem, and neither of us remember setting one..

Look up the instructions of your router on the net.
What make and model no. is it?

If it is a Belkin they usually have a default password of 11111 or 00000 or whatever, that is if you have not set one.
This is usually stated in the manual.

Failing that find out how to reset it to defaults, then start again.

Before you do this sound advice, If it is an ADSL Wi-Fi router, make sure you have all the ISP's settings that may need to be re-entered.

    Router password is often "admin"

If it's the WEP encryption, try a1b2c3d4e5

another often used password is password.
I had a netgear router that the default password was netgear1.

A make and model no. of the router would be really handy right about now.

Default passwords for pretty much every modem:

    passwd
    password
    111111
    000000
    12345 (sometimes to 6)
the name of the manufacturer - ie belkin or netgear
    admin
    administrator

Failing that check the manufacturers web site, the default password is always on there.

The router will have a login for management. Most of the common ones have already been listed. Another one not listed is username root password 0p3n.
If it's the wifi key you are after then the default on almost every modem/router is blank. You make it up yourself. If you don't know yours then you need to login to the modem with an ethernet cable and enter a new key. Failing that you have to reset the router to factory default. Doing this will wipe your ISP settings so you will lose Internet and they will need to be entered again. I suggest you google the make and model and get all the defaults before you start. To log in you type the modems ip address into a web browser. To get the ip address open a command prompt in windows and type ipconfig and hit enter. The modems ip will be listed next to gateway. Type it up in the address bar.
