    Worth doing once a year after you clean up all your old temp files, dlete any rubish you don't need etc. As stated already if you have a newer drive it won't make any noticable speed increase as they are so quick. If you are using very very large files then it may help load times. I generally don't bother doing it any more.

    all my machines are setup to Vscan, Defrag if they have not been used for more than 60 minutes, if the time is betwenn 0000 and 0600 and its more than 7 days since the last time the event occoured.

    That doesnt apply to my USB drives.
