    Multiple E-Mail

When ever a friend of mine sends me an e-mail ,I receive multiple copies(between 2 and 30).The same thing happens when he sends an e-mail to himself.
He's using Window xp/ Outlook express. Any idea what causes that?
    Thank you Wally

Had this happen a few times, particularly with our sites in China.
Seems the message back from the server to the email client on the PC to say its the email has been processed OK doesn't work properly, so the email stays in the outbox and it keeps trying to send it it again and again.

Usually only happens to the occasional email though, and we fix it by deleting the email from the outbox. Larger emails seem more likely to be affected.
Problem goes away if we push all the comms to the email server via our private network rather than over public internet, so most likely its a dodgy internet connection.

BTW - in our case it was legit emails and not virus/malware related.
If you are getting multiples of a junk message that wasn't intentionally sent by the other person thats a different situation.

Sounds like an intermittent connection problem with his mail server as stated already. Another fix is to change the timeout in your mail client. I don't have it installed here, but from memory, when you set up your accounts, setting the server name for incomming and outgoing mail etc, there is an option to set the server timeout. Can't remember exactly where it is, but dig arround in your accounts section and you will find it. Try doubling the timeout setting.

This could also be caused by the mail client not sending an end of file properly. I'll look into it.
