    Ipad +GPS

For anyone wanting to use an external GPS with their Ipad for navigation now you can. I recently purchased an app called BT stack which allows me to connect my GPS via bluetooth. Its fantastic!! I have the Tom Tom for ipad and use it alot.

I have also downloaded several GPS apps, MotionX, Bit map (for putting your own maps in) and Gaia GPS. These apps will all see the External GPS, I use Bit map for plotting markers when I am in the boat. I have also got Melways for Ipad as well. The great thing about these apps is u download the map u need before you leave and its stored on the Ipad. I also use Hema maps aswell.

Do you have to jailbreak your iPad for this to work?

If so, as far as I am aware there is no jailbreak yet available for latest operating system.

It was always an option, but not advertised..... The GPS hardware comes with the 3G version. Non 3G versions (wifi only) dont have a GPS but can sometimes determine a rough location using triangulation.

What's the POINT of an iPAD ?
It's an iPhone with a bigger screen - that doesn't make calls.
Or it's a smaller computer - that you cant use USBs or DVD's opr plug in LR diagnostic tools etc into.

    Anyone care to share ?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Funny, I was just thinking the same myself when I saw an ad for them on a Target flyer.
They are either a small (expensive) laptop/tablet with no memory with no modem or for hundreds extra you get a modem and a tiny memory.

I just think they are a toy or yet another game with lots of gimmicks eg turning from portrait to landscape. My son has the no 3G version and I had to let him join my LAN for him to play.
Ask him about what happens when you drop an iphone.
    Regards Philip A
