My computer (pc) will not shut down. It says on the screen that it is but it keeps running. Running XP. Jim

I could be one of a dozen diferent issues.
Click on control panel, erformance information and tools, advanced tools.
See what is listed under performance issues. This will give us a starting point.

Create a batch file with the command "shutdown /h /f"
It will force the shutdown and bypass this issue.
Was very common with xp.
(run the file to shutdown instead of using start--shutdown)
