    Comodo Easy VPN

    If, like me, you have relatives that get in a bind with their computers and ring you for help but cannot describe what is happening, I recommend this product .... Comodo Easy VPN

    It is easy to set up and easy to get them to install it and allows you to create a secure VPN that they can join.

    Once logged in you can use desktop control to see what they are doing and show them how to sort it out.

    Its all free as well.

    While Windows Remote Desktop can be used you need to know the remote IP address and their router must be set up to port forward the RDP protocol to the remote PC. Firewall rules, if a firewall is used, need to be updated. For a novice at the remote end any one of these requirements will prevent a successful connection.

    Comodo bypass of of this by being an Internet hosted web server. It brokers all the IP addresses and call setup for you. The issue for a "True VPN" setup is do you trust Comodo...

    For a quick and dirty Comodo is good for Windows systems. Personally I like to be in full control and use OpenVPN and/or SSH port forwarding. Mind you this requires substantially more effort, hence the Easy in Comodo Easy VPN.
