keyboard, can you recommend a good one

i just partly killed my honeywell keyboard. sparkling red splashed over it. i can't get the shift or caps lock to work therefore the lack of capitals. took the whole thing apart, dried it but has not come good. may have killed the endecoder. all the lights cycle on at boot up, the caps lock does not come on when selected via keyboard.

question is, can you recommend a nice feel keyboard. don't like the clicky keys which a lot of cheap keyboards have these days. it does not have to be wireless and it deffinately must not be one of them funny bent keyboards that microsoft brought out a while ago.

any help including source would be appreciated.

they are all pretty much the same these days, unless you are after one of the flashy gaming keyboards. Just stick with Microsoft you should be OK.

I used on of these for a while and found them pretty good:

We just got a really nice new one at work. Its a fujitsu keyboard, made for siemens medical, I'm sure all the added medical imaging keys and functions would be useless to you though, as would a $500 +GST price tag!

When being forced into doing report audio typing, I prefer one of the newer Logitec offerings, not sure exactly which one it is. But to be honest, if you use a keyboard a lot, a good wrist rest makes more difference than the keyboard.

Keyboards, like a lot of things are a personal preference, my suggestion would be go into a store that lets you try before you buy to find one that suits your typing style and budget.

I replaced my work one with a Microsoft Business pack - keyboard & mouse.

Considering how much it gets hammered, I have never had a problem.

It has a great feel to it as well... the model number is #1031 but it is a few years old now, so they may have updated it

I got a Microsoft wired desktop 600 (keyboard and mouse) for a grand total of $18 as per HangOver's rec.

Not as nice a feel as the Honeywell but it does not click like the work hp keyboards. SWMBO did not like the MS mouse and changed it back to the "laser" mouse. It will do until I get into a store where I can sample some. At least I have capital letters once again :-)

Well you've got 2 types to choose from
Cheap rubber dome keyboards or Mechanical Keyboards

Personally I'm a huge fan of MechKeyboards - Products with brown switches

it's what I would use for typing/work etc and it's near indestructable

Looks like I should refesh before posting =)
