It's not the worst I've seen though, one site (an Australian optics dealer) loaded 3mb+ on it's home page. On investigation it was a revolving slideshow of about 5 photos, all of which were more or less "straight off the camera" and had not been correctly resized!! That site was simply not useable from a satellite connection, but the owner had no idea because it "worked fine for him"....... he was sitting next to the server on a gigabit link!

I was on dial up till about three months ago so feel your pain, my workaround was FF and No Script to block the ads but on those sites like the optics site you mentioned above I often just gave up.

I'm now on ADSL, paying for ADSL2+ on ADSL 1 speeds and lucky to have that.
Telstra claimed the losses were too great for ADSL, the story of eventually getting ADSL is a saga unto itself spanning months and lots of phone calls and emails and just a little luck........

fix up the other programs problems and give the SysAdmin some control over how it behaves and i will put it back online.
