    Acer Aspire z Key

    Hi all knowledgeable folk.
I have an acer aspire laptop - about 18 months old and the z key has fallen off.
The little plastic clip that holds it on is broken. I can re-assemble it on the keyboard correctly but it wont stay clipped on.
    Any suggestions?
Can any computer store replace these bits or is it a back to Acer jobbie?
Anyone recomend a good laptop fixer in North Bris?

    Cheers

Try typing your laptop model and "keyboard" into ebay. I got a complete keyboard for the lad's Dell for around $25 I think, posted from Australia. Instructions on how to fit are all available by Google search. Took me about 10 minutes to find the instructions.

Is the key actually broken or just near-impossibly difficult to get back into place?

If not broken they can be put back into place with endless patience. Usually the keys work on a collapsing X hinge where the two bottom arms of the X latch into the top and bottom of the key.

The collapsing X hinge has broken the pivot pin bits.
Not to worry, used the google and purchased a complete new keyboard from an australian dealer for around 30 bucks delivered.

And as recommended, googled the replacement procedure.
I'll let you all know how it goes!
