    say hello to "rocky"

    don't have the skill to build a man

    but meet "rocky" the macinteltosh



    taken a while to get stable but all seems happy at the moment and only a cool 3k cheaper than the real equivalent.

    i7 980 3.4g 6 cores / 12 threads
    osx 10.6.8
    12g ram a few tb of hdd (soon to be 24g)

    soon to be lionised (after a backup or two)

    gamers wouldn't go on the rig much i suppose but for what i do it is by far faster than the other options in the same $ range.

    and from what i have seen xp in vmware is quicker in fusion than the pc version, which surprised me.

    and are they on the same socket?

    no

    they are a 1366 socket 6 core or 8 core for the extreme version

    more like a xeon chip, ddr3, usb 3, sata 3 etc etc

    had a 2600k on a z68 board up beside it and it does what i need a unit to do much more quickly.

    put a wd black 1tb in as boot drive but the seagate 7200.12 i have as the data drive is quicker in use.

    will be getting an ocz 256g vertex 3 when i get some more dosh.

    only got a 9400gtx in it for the moment as i had trouble getting sound and video stable using the bigger cards i had.

    runs my music video and photo/graphics stuff very nicely and compiles code in no time flat, for now.

    and it runs osx
