Yes I have the CG3000 and find the speed excellent, I get close to 100mbs download speed now.
The worst issue with the CG3000 is dropout issues, both with the wired LAN and wireless.
They say the issues are now fixed with the latest firmware which Optus can update remotely.
As yet it has been good now thank goodness as I work from home quite a lot and do remote desktop installations and training via remeote desktop and Skype.

No I would not run the two Modem / routers, just buy a $30 switch to ditribute the net. You will probably have problems with IP address's if you do. I can't see how you can connect them anyway as the input to both is a Cable connection not a RJ45 port. Anyway the new Modem has a port for your print server.
