I have a fix for that.
I refuse to use/register/look at Facebook![]()
Some silly bugger was trying to create a facebook account with my email address today.
I kept getting emails
"You recently registered for Facebook. To complete your Facebook registration, follow this link:"
Having a healthy mistrust of such emails, I tried to create an account with my email address. It wouldn't let me. Said the address had already been used.
I tried to log in. Password not correct. So I requested a password reset as I had lost it, they sent me an email which logged me in. It said I was already logged in on another computer.
I quickly changed the password and all the personal details of the account. Now, hopefully, no one will be able to create a facebook account with my email address.

I don't want to register for facebook either.
It appeared to me as if someone was trying to steal my identity, or at least part of it.
Yes the issue is not that you don't want it. It's that when someone else gets your email they can "give" you one regardless. Just register your email and forget. That way they can't do it.
