Is there such a thing as Laptops with a Sim Card slot/3G compatability? I'm guessing you can buy a laptop and plug it into phones/landlines/dongles etc, bit I would like a laptop with the versatility of an Ipad without the need for phones, wires etc etc.... Thoughts please.

why don't you just get a nextg wifi wireless modem, either prepaid thru telstra or postpaid big pond. I think they are called 'Telstra Elite wifi broadband'
then you can run all your devices using the one account
A 4g wifi hotspot from Telstra is better than a usb dongle. I have found the new 4g dongles can suck too much power out of the usb port and get a bit flaky. You can stick a wifi hot spot anywhere in the room for better reception as well. Laptops with builtin sim slots generally cost more and are harder to find whereas any laptop you want will have wifi.

SubscriberMy new work laptop has a built in SIM card slot and good reception (with Telstra). It is an HP Elitebook something or other - nice and compact too. Battery lasts ok - about 4 hours. If you want more details I can go and drag it out my laptop bag...
