    YouTube

Has YouTube changed something in the last few months? I used to be able to set something to download, then walk away, or look on another page and it would load the whole item. Now it will only load about 30 seconds then pause. It takes about 40 minutes to watch 5 minutes of footage! Is there a way to fix this or is this what you get for free?

I think the issue is at your end.

I can watch YouTube vid's virtually straight away without any pauses. (iPad3-Telstra3G).

Youtube vids take a fair bit of bandwidth. Go to speedtest.net and test your line speed; for a land cable it depends on distance from the nearest exchange but anything below 2 mbps you have problems. Google to ADSL exchange to get your distance (there will be a box to put in your address).

Other than that, do you regularly use crap cleaner? If not, google crap cleaner and download one. There is plenty of good freeware ones available.

Jeff, if you have a look in the "Computer/IT" section, you'll see I had the same issue a week or two ago. My nephew fixed it but only for about 3 youtube vids. It's not working again.

Adobe flash player has been up graded with " enhanced security " (read legal pay for down load sites trying to improve there bottom line. ) to prevent people from down loading video. As they are the flash player used by 99.999% of sites including you tube this might be also your problem. So for the protection of profits for a few pay for download sites we all suffer regardless of which site.

try clearing your cookies for youtube/google - it is said to help for a while.

If you use Google Chrome then try adding the following extension:
    http://chrome.google.com/webstore/de...hrome-ntp-icon

    Features:

    • Works with all embedded/HTML5 YouTube videos. Be it a Facebook news feed video or a video directly from YouTube site.
    • With global preferences, all YouTube videos can be set to start on your wish.
    • As soon as the page loads.
    • When the video is buffered completely, or whatever buffer percentage you choose.
    • Let SmartVideo decide when it's good to start playing. SmartVideo's smart buffer decides the buffer percentage based on your current download speed.
    • Or just make the YouTube videos to start buffering when the page loads. You can play the video whenever you wish.
    • Low bandwidth users users can opt to initialize videos only when use has clicked on the video. Other buffering options will apply once the video is buffered. This feature is not available for HTML5 videos.
    • The buffer strategy can be set for individual YouTube player or as the Global preferences. Just hover your mouse over any YouTube video.
    • Calculates time left before the video starts playing. (Hover the mouse over the YouTube video).
    • Once a video is buffered as desired, notifications (sound and/or desktop notification) can be raised instead of playing the video.
    • SmartVideo can default the video quality/size based on your preference.
    • 'Loop' option on all YouTube videos.
    • Separate preferences for embedded and 'on youtube.com' videos.
    • Enable/disable 'switching to HD on fullscreen' option.
    Cheers,

    Sean

Let it load at its own rate with the play button pressed and the sound mute, then hit replay when its fully loaded. You can't see it stumbling along slowly if you are on another page...

We just changed our internet supplier and it is now much quicker. I did the speedtest and it was 34mbps, I think the old one was 3.

I dont have any trouble watching youtube vids and I do nothing special.
I often watch full length movies on youtube without any interuptions or loss of quality. I know a bloke that uses Leawo software to download youtube vids and transfer them to dvd.

this is prob your best bet, its actually a new feature i noticed they implemented back a bit to save your bandwith. it only loads the start of a movie and then when you watch it it does the rest as it needs it. rather than loading the whole thing when you might close it and not want the hole thing 2 mins into a 120min doco...
