    Jailbreak Iphone3 problems?

I have just bought an ALDI tablet with wireless and bluetooth and will accept a USB 3G dongle.BTW it seems to be much better than earlier ones which apparently were very slow.

I have tried to tether it to my Iphone but no luck as the Iphone only has an "ad hoc" wireless connection and the tablet does not recognise it in the USB or bluetooth.

On reading the internet it can be achieved by installing apps on the tablet and iphone3, but the Iphone has to be jailbroken with Cydia before this can happen.
From earleier reading about jailbreaking, I gather it is possible to "brick" the Iphone when doing this, and I am not confident seeing I have Iphones die on me without any intervention.

The aim is to use the tablet when on holidays rather than take a laptop, and although the obvious thing to do is to get a 3G dongle or mobile wireless hub pre paid, there are significant costs involved.

So has anyone had positive experience with jailbreaking an Iphone 3 ( or 3GS) with Cydia?

2nd question. Has anyone used their post paid Telstra Iphone 3G SIM with a data pack in a dongle or mobile 3G wifi. Does it work? ther eare some on Ebay and this may be a solution.
Any other fixes would be gratefully accepted.
    Regard sPhilip A

I have a 4S which I bricked several months back, check what version OS your phone is running then Google Jailbreak and download the correct jailbreak version. After that install installious which is a repository.

Been a while now, but from memory, one of the easiest ways is to open your I-Phone browser, and go to <www.jailbreakme.com>
Does the job for you automatically.

If it can't be done there, it should direct you to some other methods, or at least tell you if it's at all possible or not.

If possible, go for the UNTETHERED breaks, otherwise each time your phone crashes, you need to reconnect to your PC to jailbreak again.

With the iphone 3gs try not to take it past 4.3.3 firmware, i have several 3g and 3gs at home and anytime i have gone to ios5 or newer they really die speed wise and crash a lot. 4.3.3 is safe and easy to jailbreak, if you google it there will be many many sites and youtube videos showing exactly how its done, even videos on upgrading it to 4.3.3 if its on earlier firmware - IIRC 4.3.3 should have the ability to act as a wireless hotspot, if not you could try getting a copy of my3g from a hacked source in cydia, it works well.

JailbreakMe 3.0 i think wont work on 4.3.3 or newer, its an old exploit which was patched long ago.

As for using a phone sim in a 3g dongle, i have done this, works fine just watch your data use unless you have a large data plan on the phone.
