Thread: HOW TO ADD A PHOTO

There are a few ways

1st - the 'little pics at the bottom' approach - that enlarge when clicked




when you start a post, if you scroll down a bit you will see 'manage attachments' - click that and the little pop up screen ( that thing to the left) comes up. click browse and you browse for the photo within the file system of your computer. Click open, that window closes and you return to the attachments window and click upload. Read the file size restrictions because it can gum up the works if the photo is too big. When uploaded the photo is at the bottom of the post as a thumbnail.

2nd - Thumbnail and enlarged: Having loaded a thumbnail, you can display it like I have here by using preview to look at your forthcoming post. Clicking on the thumbnail causes it to enlarge - then copy the name in the address bar. Go back to your post, click the little picture icon to the right of the bold/underline/italics icons, a small window comes up asking you to insert the address of the pic - backspace to get rid of the 'http' part, past the address and enter - at the location the cursor was the pic comes up - like the big pic you can see.

3rd - In the attachments section there is provision for displaying photos hosted at other places. It's similar to the above.

4th - Use 'Gallery' (Top toolbar) and put them all there, and then post a link to them. this is good if you intend to show more than 5 photos (which is the limit for 1 post). Gallery works similar to manage attachments. T

Hi, two ways:
1. Attach an image that is on your computer to the end of the post.
2. Link the image from where it is hosted on the internet, and put it anywhere within your text.

I prefer 2, but you will need to have the image on photobucket, or some other image hosting service. It can be hosted on this site in the photo albums, but I find that a bit fiddly compared with other hosts.
Yell if you under stand this, or it is complete gibberish - it will help understand where you are at so far.

I find it easiest to maintain a seperate image hosting account (webshots.com, photobucket.com, whatever floats yer boat)
THey generate automatic code with their images, you select the code that reads 'post on bulletin board or forum' copy, and paste here, and voila... images...
Webshots one you can actually cHOOse how big the images will show up (so standard default is thumbnail, but you can select different sizes to show and then copy that code across)

Give up!

FLickr makes it harder than it needs to bebut since you already have it I'll go through a couple options with you.

FIrst option (if this works, I'm wingin it) is to go to 'share' at top of page there, 'grab link' and highlight that link and copy it (by right clicking and scrolling down to copy'

Then when you get to here, you click on the little picture tab (looks line twin peaks with a moon above it), enter the code and in an ideal world, you would have a picture, but instead we get the pretty little red X because flickr are doodooheads and dont like direct linking of images (though you can post a link fine)

SO, the option you will need to use (and I'm still unsure till I finish if it'll work), is go to 'share' again on yo0ur flicker hosted image, but this time go to 'grab the HTML/BB code' part. What will probably show up first is the HTML code, which you DON"T want here (but is useful for putting extra images in ebay listing without paying muaha) You need to click the dot into BB code section, you will notice the code will change to something like this (though I've altered it so it shows the appearance instead of just putting in the image, Ive deliberately taken out brackets etc)

But when you copy and paste it correctly, in it's entirety, you end up with

And flickr are happy happy because the picture has a clickable bit on it which will take you to Flickr iteself and hopefully lure more customers in for them

Personally I prefer photobucket for simplicity format has changed a bit since I made this information pic up years back for another forum, it gives you the general picture
You upload pictures, and when you go to your albums, the lines of code appear beneath it automatically, you simply select what you want (IMG code for forums like this, HTML code for sneaking extra pics in to ebay auctions) copy it, and paste it in to the posting box here





Webshots for me, is better still, as I have control over what size the images appear at here, even if they are monsterous I can make them appear tiny, or 400, or 500 etc but its a little more mucking around to do it and also webshots seems more advert intensive, so a little more laggy
