    PC problem

Hi to the experts. Having arrived home after 10 days away I found my pc has gone funny. It was not used during this time but everything on it has changed. The screen resolution had changed from high to low but I was able to fix this. The games won't run and it says that my hardware accelerator is not on???? How do I overcome this. Also, and this may be the problem, looking at my display adapters I see two listed. Both the same . ATI RADEON 9550/X1050. and both show that they have problems. Firstly why do I have two of the same showing and how do I fix this problem. The games load under some soft thingy but are shrunken and won't run. Can someone help with a fix or do I need to call in a rech at exhorbitant rates? Jim

Ah! The vagaries of computers. Switched it on this morning and the stupid thing works. Whatever the problem, it resolved itself last night when the computer was turned off.

Ahhh and there in lies the solution with all things computing! Keep restarting till it spontaneously behaves. A good whack doesn't always go astray either

Took me 4 restarts of an ultrasound machine computer last week before it behaved. No problems since!

A classic reboot will fix it moment.

If it continues to be a problem

    1. Make sure you've applied all Windows updates

    2. Try the manufacturers website for latest graphics drivers

Or not.. I installed the latest driver for my Radeon graphics card today and ended up with an unreadable screen. I had to reboot in safe mode and roll back to the earlier driver.

Probably not. It's my laptop. My desktop boot HDD died last night.

I wouldn't mind taking a bet, that it was caused by fluff/dust in your graphics card fan. The restart probably dislodged it.
