    I hate computers (this week)...

Last week it was my daughters previously indestructable Asus EeePC, after untold torture it just failed and I couldn't resurrect it this time.

This week the old faithful HP home PC stopped booting in normal mode.
Went through the various chasing of selective startup, corrupted drivers and dodgy card insertions with no joy. 5 million restart attempts later I decided to disable the unused hardware...... bugger, there you go.
Tomorrow I guess I will have to start enabling the hardware again until I find which of the little monster cards has given up the ghost.

Or I will just leave well enough alone until someone complains about something else that isn't working.

My turn this week, same issues and took 5 restarts for it to boot properly.
The win7 install is less than 2 years old and has become pathetically slow even after i removed 50gig of files to another pc and increased the page file size - time for an upgrade, 6 years is ancient for a pc.

Mines hitting that age and hardware is slowly giving up. Lasted well considering as its not slow by any means but I'm backing up more regularly now waiting for it to go out with a bang.

    Don't say that
Our old faithful HP home PC has a few more birthdays than that behind it.
Was purchased originally on the basis of finding the highest spec machine that fitted the budget, then going up one notch.

    Now I am nervous again.......

I think i could extend its life with more ram and maybe a new or reformatted hdd but the money would be better spent on an upgrade, around $150-$200 will get me the components to do what i need.
