When I open threads or even in news items some words are printed in blue and underlined. If I hold my curser on the word it brings up the following.....

Does anyone know what is going on and how can I stop this? I have installed Spybot and cleaned out my system but this is still happening. Is there a better free spyware cleaner or what should I do next? I am also still getting the stupid competition page open occasionally, even from within this site. Jim![]()

As previously stated I have used Spybot to clean out around 70 problems. So I installed Malwarebytes, which found an aditional 6 problems. I have now just run a full scan with Microsoft Security Essential which is my normal line of defence. It showed 1 problem which allowed popups so this was deleted. However my woes still occurr. Word typed in blue and underlined. If you hover the curser over this it brings up another website. It is driving me mad. I suppose it is time to spend money. Thanks Incisor but I am not sure I have the capacity to try this. I don't wish to make things worse. Jim![]()

It seems that Adobe Flash Player might be the culprit. I have just deleted it and so far no recurrance of problem.

I will give a full recap in case others might get a similar problem. See earlier posts this thread for problem. I run MSE as my normal security and this was up to date when the problem occurred. Installed Spybot as suggested and did full run coming up with 50 problems which I deleted. Problem still occurred so I did a full second run with Spybot and found another 20 problems which I eliminated. Problem still there. I installed Malwarebytes and did full run, this found 6 more problems which I dealt with. Problem still there so I installed Ad-Aware and found 2 problems which I dealt with. Problem still there so I reran a deep scan on MSE and found one problem which I cleared. Initial problem still evidend. However by hovering the curser over the blue underlined word I saw in the box that appeared something about Adobe Flash Player. Now this program is extensively used for many applications so out of curiosity I deleted it and the problem disappeared along with the annoying "enter this contest" box that appeared occasionally. Now for the experts. WHY WOULD FLASH PLAYER GIVE ME THIS PROBLEM???![]()

Vulnerabilities in whatever version of Flash you were using are probably being used by what ever infects your system. The infection has not gone away it just can't use Flash any more.
Have a look for 'Text Enhance malware' on the web. You might get some ideas.

I had the problem not long ago, it was a toolbar that installed with another program. I forget it's name but I uninstalled it and the links went away.
The grandkids came over today and of course their online games wouldn't work because of no flash player. Swallowed hard and downloaded and installed new program. So far no recurrence of problem I had. Just maybe I managed to clean it out of computer. Only time will tell. Thanks for all your suggestions. Jim![]()
