Murphys law.
Well we wanted to have more internet usage as we kept going over our data limit. So we changed service providers and hopefully got a better deal. It was meant to be all so so simple, new provider, input new provider info into router and modem and surfing we go. Yeah right
This is where the problems started, Murphy stepped in and it went down hill from there. Our setup was a modem connected to a Belkin wireless router. The old router would not configer with our new provider. So called the Belkin mob. Could not sort out the security. Did not matter what security code was put in it would not accept it from the computer. Did a firm ware up date still no good. Could connect with modem direct to one computer. As there is five computers in our house this was no good. Fine I thought I`ll just use a spare Net comm wireless modem router that we have. Now I know this unit was never used. Was given to us as the previous owners did not need it. Hooked it up and configured it. power light and the wireless light came on. No adsl or activity lights. Did not consider the modem to be cactus as it was new. Called our new provider who after some testing eventually arranged for a field tech to come out. New wireless modem router cactus was the answer. As the unit has been on shelf for some time it is well past any warranty. So now we have a Net gear all in one unit that works. Yep was easy enough not.
Cheers Hall
