iPad and sat nav.
I have seen a few people with iPads in their 4bies , I was wondering how you would link a sat nav like the HEMA with the iPad?
Also how well does it work. My father is moving towards grey nomad territory and is looking at an iPad as well as an off road nav system, but with his vision a smallish screen will be very difficult for him to view.
Thanks.

There is a lot of discussion on use of iPads and tablets in the GPS section.
Basically you'd use the iPad to replace the Sat Nav, rather than linking it to the standalone Hema.
To get the same level of functionality as a Hema 6ni you'd need:
An ipad or ipad mini with wifi+cellular

Hema 4wd Australia

Yep I agree, ditch the sat nav and get a new ipad with built in GPS. I've been using ipad for navigation since they first came out and the thing I've learnt is that you will never find one app that does everything. I use several apps to achieve a good nav solution.

If his eyesight is not the best, it may be better to look at a laptop device.
Load it with the Hema maps, OziExplorer and a GPS tracking mouse and he'll have all he needs for traveling Aust. Then with an Internet connection toggle/dongle, (whatever it's called) and he'll have everything at his fingertips.
