    Computers---my head hurts

I recently had to replace my old printer and so I bought an Epson WF-2510.
Set it up from cd and printer runs fine. However, switch the printer off or disconnect the usb cable and the computer never finds the printer again. Printer shown as default but comes up off line. It is impossible to get it back on line. Something to do with the computer issuing new ip address to what it used at installation. Now if I disconnect it to use on my laptop which now shows the same problem, the only way to get it to work is to fully reinstall it off the disk. How can I overcome this problem? Jim

Have you downloaded the latest drivers from the website?
9 times out of 10 it fixes that sort of issue

Thanks but I think it is sorted. Spoke to epsom help desk when all else failed and it appears to have been a faulty usb cable, which was almost new. Replaced it and so far it is working

Sounds about right, check the cable, power on & drivers are upto date, nothing much else you can other than an ink issue or a technical fault. Glad it was as simple as a usb cable for you!

I have found some older USB cables cannot handle the faster data rates with the usb2 and 3 specifications. You are not the first person I've seen with this, in fact I've experienced the same problem myself. I believe the newer cables have better shielding on the data lines. Perhaps that is why your first usb cable didn't work so well.

Thanks all. The USB cable supplied with printer was very thin, whereas the one I replaced it with is a lot thicker. So much for new stuff as the printer is 4 weeks old. Jim

As with everything Jim, new doesn't necessarily equal good quality.
